World of golf venue sold by Christie + Co The World of Golf centre in New Malden, one of Europe's most popular and profitable golf centres, has been sold by leisure sector specialists Christie + Co. The Beverley Park centre has been acquired by New Malden Golf Centre Limited from World of Golf owners Ashtour Ltd for an undisclosed sum. Set in nine acres, World of Golf is situated just off the A3 and is easily accessible from Central and South West London. The centre provides a two-tier, 60-bay driving range, as well as a host of other leisure facilities, including a Jurassic Encounter Adventure Golf course. The Jurassic Encounter Adventure Golf course, which opened at New Malden in 2008, is an 18-hole course featuring nine animatronic dinosaurs, testing skills while providing great family entertainment. World of Golf New Malden also has one of the busiest golf shops in the country, offering an extensive range of golfing equipment, clothing and merchandise. The store is operated by American Golf on a long lease. In addition, the site is host to a Costa Coffee franchise which is also licensed to sell alcohol. Jon Patrick, Director and Head of Leisure at Christie + Co, says: "As anticipated, we had a great deal of interest in this unique, popular and very profitable attraction, and we are delighted to have completed the sale to New Malden Golf Centres Limited who we know will be determined to take the business to the next level." A spokesperson for New Malden Golf Centre says: "We are delighted to have acquired this golf venue and we intend to continue to invest in the site and to focus on improving and enhancing the core 56 bay, two-tier driving range which is so central to World of Golf's success." Grant Wright, Chief Executive of Ashtour Ltd, adds: "'We are very proud of Beverley Park which was the first of our new-model, family-friendly golf centres. We are delighted that the new owner plans to enhance what has already been achieved." Beverley Park will continue to use the World of Golf brand and website and will still be part of the largest learn to play golf scheme in the world. |
