Wycombe Heights helping junior golfers emulate their Ryder Cup heroes
October 10, 2012

Wycombe Heights Golf Centre is giving young golfers the opportunity to emulate their European Ryder Cup heroes later this month when it stages a special version of the match.

The public pay-and-play facility will be hosting a Junior Ryder Cup event over three days during half term, from Tuesday, October 30 to Thursday, November 1, with the aim of giving those youngsters inspired by the likes of Ian Poulter, JustinRose and Sergio Garcia the opportunity to following their footsteps.

Wycombe Heights - part of BGL Golf, the UK's leading golf course owner and operator - will welcome junior golfer of all abilities aged between eight and 16 to enjoy the three days of golf, which will include a one hour coaching session with the centre's expert PGA Professionals each day, before heading out onto the outstanding Par-3 Course to play in a Ryder Cup-style competition.

Those taking part in the event will be split into two teams, just like Europe and the US, and will play four ball better ball on the first day, while on day two children will play foursomes. On the final day the two teams will compete in a singles competition as they replicate proceedings that saw Europe steal a famous victory against their US counterparts at Medinah Country Club in the Ryder Cup last weekend.

Russell Stebbings, Wycombe Heights Golf Centre General Manager, said: "The Ryder Cup at Medinah was one of the most exciting sporting events ever witnessed and will have inspired many youngsters to take up the sport.

"The Ryder Cup is one of the few times golf is played as a team event and many young golfers will never have the opportunity to sample that feeling, so we are giving them that opportunity and offering some great prizes over all three days as well as expert coaching to golfers of all standards.

"Our PGA Professionals are used to coaching all manner of players whether beginners or experienced players, so all are welcome."
