Parkdean raises a phenomenal £25,500 for Ayrshire Hospice

July 30, 2013

A holiday company, with a park based in South West Scotland, has added to its fundraising record by collecting more than £25,500 for the Ayrshire Hospice at its annual Pro-Am golf tournament.

Since 1988, Parkdean has organised the tournament at the famous Belleisle golf course, situated just 10 miles from its Sundrum Castle holiday park. This year was the 26th consecutive year the tournament had taken place and, having raised staggering amounts in previous years, the Parkdean team was determined to add to its already impressive record.

This year's event took place on Thursday 13th June and welcomed golfers such as Greig Hutcheon. Featuring forty teams, made up of three amateurs and one professional, it gave amateur golfers a unique opportunity to play alongside their sporting heroes whilst raising money for a local charity in the process.

For the grand finale of the tournament, an evening of entertainment was held at the Fairfield House Hotel in Ayr. During the event, further funds were raised for the hospice through a 'Grand Raffle' and those who played in the tournament were recognised in a special presentation dinner.

Speaking about the event, John said:

"Local support and fundraising such as this is vital for the work of the Ayrshire Hospice.  There are not many of us whose lives have not been touched by the work of a hospice, either as a patient or through the care of a loved one, and we're delighted to be helping such a worthy cause through this charity golf tournament. We'd like to thank everyone involved for making our 26 th year such a success and we look forward to continuing our fundraising again next year."

Parkdean, which is the largest holiday park operator in Scotland with six parks across Dumfries and Galloway, Ayrshire, Clyde Coast, Perthshire and the Highlands, has helped to raise over £325,000 for the hospice through the golf event over the last 26 years.
