Golfers 'Wear it Pink’ to help BGL raise more than £3,500 for charity

November 20, 2013

BGL Golf, the UK's leading course owner and operator, has raised £3,558.38 for Breast Cancer Campaign with the assistance of colourfully clad golfers participating in national 'Wear it Pink' Day.

Golfers were invited to don their finest pink clothing at each of the ten golf facilities operated by BGL Golf across the UK, including the prestigious Burhill Golf Club, Surrey, where the company's head office is located.

Each of the venues also staged a variety of themed activities for philanthropic visitors including selling pink cakes and golf balls as well as offering free tuition to lady golfers throughout the day.

Colin Mayes, BGL chief executive, said: "There is no strict dress code at our venues, but it is pleasing to see how people make an effort with their outfits for such a worthy cause.

"I would like to thank all our patrons and staff who took an active part in the day and made a donation."

One in eight women in the UK will develop breast cancer in their lifetime and around 12,000 people lose their battle with the disease ever year. Breast Cancer Campaign, the foundation behind 'Wear it Pink' aims to provide every patient with the best treatment, information and support.
