ClubstoHire backs future Irish golf stars

May 15, 2013

Ireland's next generation of golf stars at the prestigious Paddy Harrington golf scholarship at NUI Maynooth in Co. Kildare have been given a timely boost with Dublin-based ClubstoHire backing the school with a clothing sponsorship deal.

The award-winning golf club rental company - helped set-up by Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley in 2010 - is sponsoring garments worn by rising stars on the Academy's Paddy Harrington Golf Scholarship, which has previously produced players such as Ladies European Tour player Danielle McVeigh.

The scholarship programme, based at this year's Irish Open venue Carton House, is widely regarded as the best high-performance golf University programme in Ireland and allows talented young players - including Sinead Sexton and recent R&A Foundation Scholars' Tournament champion Gary Hurley - to undertake internationally-recognised degrees at the same time as working on their game.

"As brand ambassador for ClubstoHire, I'm delighted the company is supporting the Paddy Harrington scholarship programme where some of the very best young Irish golfers are developing," said McGinley, who along with Harrington, is an Honorary Doctorate of the school.

Barry Fennelly, Manager of the scholarship programme, said: "We're extremely grateful for the support ClubstoHire has given us and look forward to working with them in the future to build our reputation in the sport."

Launched in 2010, ClubstoHire has helped save golfers nearly £1m in additional airline baggage charges through providing sets of the latest clubs at 16 popular golfing destinations across Europe from €35 per week.

"It's a privilege to support the scholarship at NUI Maynooth that provides the very best in terms of facilities, coaching and education for young Irish golfers," said Tony Judge, CEO of ClubstoHire. "Although we're expanding internationally, our roots are firmly based in Ireland and we're proud to be a small part of the next generation of Irish golf stars."
