Most common phrases to be heard on the Golf Course
June 26, 2013The traditions and quirks of the golfing world are arguably just as important and entertaining as playing the sport itself.
But what are some of the more uttered phrases we're most likely to hear on the golf course?
The language we use in golf is, by any standards, a spectacle understood only in the context of the course and would be extremely hard for a non-player to learn from any official handbook...
If you've heard some of the following, you're not alone!

"Get in the hole!" - A very common phrase most likely to be heard following a weak putt on the green. You can't fault them for their optimism can you?
"I just don't understand. I was hitting it fine on the range" - A classic from a golfer who is perhaps exasperated from miss-shots all day and is only looking to reassure his golf buddies he really is a 10 handicap...
"The wind changed so much during my backswing!" - Of course a golfer like this always manages to find a reason to blame poor play on anything apart from their own skill. We believed them the first 7 times to be fair. Others might blame their golf equipment as a reason for their poor performance. Should your equipment get damaged, Golfplan can provide you with a comprehensive golf insurance cover.
All that being said, without any of these phrases a day of golf may well be filled with perfect shots as well as players evaluating their own skill level when something goes wrong, and who on earth would want that?
