Darren Clarke Golf School partners with USA College

June 7, 2013

The Darren Clarke Golf School (DCGS) are proud to announce a partnership with the Lee Westwood Golf School (LWGS) based in Orlando, USA.

The LWGS in Florida is offering a minimum guarantee of a 30% scholarship for all accepted DCGS students who have attended and completed the Full-Time or Golf Performance Year programme from 2013. For a top-performing student, there is potential to receive up to a 50% scholarship. (To be considered the student would need to excel in golf, education, and attitude.)

At the completion of the DCGS programme, students will be given the opportunity to advance their golf and/or education at Lee's school at the Errol Estate Golf & Country Club in Apopka, Florida. The location boasts a dedicated purpose-built and student-only practice facility, 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, swimming pool and on-site villa accommodation.

The LWGS in Florida has recently formed an association with one of the US leading universities to deliver golf specific educational courses for post-tertiary students alongside a golf training programme.  The type of modules available include Sales/Marketing, Golf Operations, Golf & Club Event Management and Managerial Leadership.

Darren Clarke said: "I am delighted with this new initiative. I was fortunate enough to receive a scholarship to America in my amateur days and it is great to know that this route is available to the students attending my school."

Gavin Hamlyn, the General Manager of DCGS, said: "It's exciting that we have now created a pathway where young golfers looking to enhance their golf and education are provided with the option of joining us from the age of 15 and to progress to post-tertiary education in the United States."
