Leeds United Foundation Golf Society announces its official launch at Leeds Golf Centre

August 30, 2013

At Leeds United there's a tradition of players making amazing debuts. Who can forget Carl Shutt's hattrick against Bournemouth in the late 80's or our Luke Murphys goal against Brighton at Elland Road just a few weeks ago?

So is the case with the Leeds United Foundation Golf Society. As the clubs premier golf partner, the society made a phenomenal entry in its position with the Elland Road club in raising in excess of £8,000 for its principal beneficiary the Leeds United Foundation through the Dom Matteo Charity Golf day held at Cookridge Hall, Leeds at the end of July.

Now, with such a debut under its belt, the Society will be launched to the wider Leeds United Supporter base with an event at the Leeds Golf Centre, Wike, Leeds on Sunday 22 nd September 2013.

Society Captain Dom Matteo along with Vice Captain Andy Couzens will be present on the day, along with others to be confirmed. The first event will take the form of the First Leeds United Foundation Golf Society Medal using Stableford scoring for the day. The event will be for pairs with a total of 52 team places available for the day.

Andy Herridge, Head Pro, Leeds Golf Centre, said: "We are delighted that Leeds Golf Centre has been chosen to host the first official event open to all Leeds United supporters. It is sure to be a great event and the standard of play will be brilliant."

A cost of £40.00 per person will also include the first year's membership of the Society enabling members to participate in future exclusive Society events. Places, and memberships, can be booked and paid for via www.leedsgolfcentre.com or www.lufcgolf.com from Monday 26th August.

The society will be initially limited to a membership of 500, so demand is expected to be high.  The day will start with coffee and a bacon roll served upon arrival and will have a 9.00am first tee time. Following completion of the 18 holes there will be a buffet for each pair to regain their energy before a prize presentation, by Society Captain Dom Matteo, to recognise the winning 5 teams on the day and to give everyone a chance to meet the Leeds United legends, both present and past, in attendance on the day.
