Lumine welcomes back PGAs of Europe Fourball Championship

September 3, 2013

Lumine Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community, one of Europe's most inspiring golf resorts has strengthened its partnership with the PGAs of Europe following the announcement of the Fourball Championship's return for a third consecutive year. Growing in stature year on year, the 2014 edition will enjoy additional support from leading tour operator Golfbreaks.com and the lure of the largest prize fund to date.

"It is an honour for us to welcome back the leaders from the European golf industry," said Calle Carlsson, General Manager, Lumine Golf & Beach Club. "Our year round immaculate Troon courses conditioning, warm Mediterranean climate, and diversity of the Costa Daurada region only serve to enhance our reputation as the ideal venue for high-profile international events. We look forward to welcoming competitors and dignitaries and can promise the most successful Fourball Championship yet."

The PGAs of Europe Fourball Championship will see a distinguished gathering of PGA Professionals from across Europe. 120 pairs will compete in a better-ball format over the Greg Norman designed LUMINE Lakes and LUMINE Hills courses and will take advantage of the world-class facilities on offer at the 45-hole resort.

PGA's of Europe Chief Executive, Ian Randell said; "The attraction of returning to a venue with its growing reputation alongside an enhanced prize fund will prove extremely popular with PGA Professionals across our membership. Lumine are fantastic partners to the PGAs of Europe and the Lakes and Hills courses provide the perfect setting for our Fourball Championship."

One of Europe's most diverse golfing destinations, LUMINE Golf Club includes the Greg Norman designed Lakes Course which also plays host to the European Tour Qualifying School Stage 2 and the more traditional Hills Course which runs through pine and olive trees with spectacular views of the nearby coastline. The two championship courses are further complimented by the aptly named 9-hole Ruins Course, another Norman design that weaves its way through Roman archaeological remains from the second century and completes a diverse 45-hole offering of immaculately presented golf that caters for golfers of all ages and abilities. An increasingly popular venue for championship golf, Lumine Golf Club will also be fresh from staging the industry's premier travel event: the 2013 International Golf Travel Market.

The region's capital, Tarragona, is home to some of the best restaurants in the Costa Daurada while LUMINE's Beach Club, situated above the Playa Del Llarga bay, is fast becoming one of the most fashionable venues. Set within the pine-clad hillsides, the Beach Club is also home to the award-winning LUMINE Restaurant where head chef Eduardo Cuesta has already become somewhat of a legend in the area.  Combined with 7km of golden sandy beach, the Costa Daurada also provides golfers the perfect setting for relaxation and indulgence after a round.
