June 17, 2013

LUMINE Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community, one of Europe's most sought after destinations, has been endorsed once again by the European Tour with the return of Qualifying School Stage 2 this November for a third consecutive year. The 45-hole Spanish resort, located just one hour south of Barcelona, will welcome aspiring young players and veterans chasing their dreams of a spot on the main Tour from 2nd - 5th November.

Calle Carlsson, General Manager of LUMINE Golf & Beach Club, part of the LUMINE Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community commented; "We take pride in meeting the rigorous course and facility standards set by the European Tour, whose decision to return to our facility demonstrates the success we have delivered as host venue in the past. Here at Lumine Golf Club we provide the complete package as a championship host venue and we look forward to welcoming Europe's elite golfers for what will be one of the most important events in their careers."

The hotly contested four-day competition will take place around the resort's immaculately conditioned Greg Norman designed, Lakes Course. Bearing all the hallmarks of the Great White Shark, this testing links-style championship layout has proved itself as a popular venue for both the competitors and the European Tour.

"This is a hugely important event for The European Tour as it gives professional golfers, both young and old, the opportunity to realise their dreams of playing on the tour," Said Mike Stewart, Tournament Director, European Tour.

European Tour Qualifying School Stage 2 is one event on what is busy calendar year for LUMINE Golf Club. The club has hosted the PGAs of Europe Fourball Championship and the hotly-contested Spanish Junior Championship, and from 11-14 November, the international tourism suppliers, buyers and media from around the world will descend upon LUMINE for the16th International Golf Travel Market 2013. The annual mecca for the golf industry will see the Troon-managed facility open its doors and take centre stage as the region demonstrates its diverse golf, leisure and cultural offering.

Located within 170 acres, LUMINE Golf Club also includes the more traditional Hills Course, a second 18-hole championship course that runs through pine and olive trees with spectacular views of the nearby coastline. The aptly named 9-hole Ruins Course, another Norman design, weaves its way through Roman archaeological remains from the second century and completes a diverse 45-hole offering of immaculately presented golf that caters for golfers of all ages and abilities.

In addition to the comprehensive golf offering and world-class practice facilities, LUMINE boasts two fully-equipped clubhouses, impressive conference facilities, impeccable service and hospitality, numerous accommodation offerings to suit all tastes and budgets, several stunning restaurants serving superb Mediterranean cuisine and the acclaimed LUMINE Beach Club.
