Lady Taverners raise £3,600 at charity golf day

July 30, 2013

Golfers came together at Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf and Spa on Thursday 27 th June for the annual charity golf day hosted by the Chiltern Region Lady Taverners.

The fundraising event, for ladies and gentlemen, marked the fourth year the Lady Taverners had organised a golf day at Luton Hoo.

Blessed with good weather the Chiltern Region Lady Taverners managed with just 11 teams to raise £3,600 to help children with special needs and those from disadvantaged backgrounds. The funds raised will enable the children to participate in sport with the help of specially adapted minibuses and wheelchairs, sensory equipment and playing facilities.

The golfers played the championship 18 hole par 73 golf course at Luton Hoo, which winds its way through spectacular grounds designed by Capability Brown. Team members included high profile names such as Australian fast bowler and commentator, Jeff Thomson, who was a guest of Savage & Co Solicitors; R&B record producer, DJ and former Another Level member, Dane Bowers and Kenny Wax, producer of the West End show "Top Hat". Mr Wax, who was taking part in the tournament for a second time, also kindly donated tickets for the show to the auction.

After a delicious three course luncheon served in Luton Hoo's Adam's Brasserie prizes were presented by Joan Morcambe.

Jane Wilding, Chairman of the Chiltern Region Lady Taverners commented: "As always Luton Hoo lived up to its reputation and everyone enjoyed the day enormously. We would like to thank everybody who took part and helped to make the day a great success".

Matthew Long, General Manager at Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa added: "It was an absolute pleasure to welcome the Lady Taverners and their guests and to once again host such a popular and successful event".
