Dan Waite wins dramatic Motocaddy Masters

May 29, 2013

Dan Waite of The Wisley, Surrey, fired three birdies in the final five holes at Wensum Valley Hotel, Golf and Country Club in Norkfolk yesterday (2 May) to win The Motocaddy Masters on the PGA EuroPro Tour and seal his first professional victory.

Following opening rounds of 74 and 72 that left him two shots behind former Walker Cup star Stiggy Hodgson, Waite's chances looked slim after the front nine of his third and final round when he fell to a tournament score of two-over-par. However, birdies on the 15 th , 16 th and crucially 18 th holes saw the 24-year-old finish on one-under-par to claim top spot in the PGA EuroPro Tour's season-opening event.

"It feels great to get my first professional win under my belt," said Waite, who takes home the £10,000 first-place prize and a new Motocaddy S3 PRO trolley. "I want to take it from here and try and get a couple more."

This year marks the eighth consecutive year that Motocaddy has been the 'Official Electric Trolley' of the PGA EuroPro Tour, a circuit that has produced Major winners like Louis Oozthuizen and Charl Schwartzel, plus Ryder Cup stars Ross Fisher and Nicolas Colsaerts.

"The quality of players on the PGA EuroPro Tour means The Motocaddy Masters regularly conjures up drama right down to the final hole and this year was no different," said Motocaddy Chairman David Wells. "We congratulate Dan, who showed nerves of steel to win his first event, but also the PGA EuroPro Tour for laying on yet another fantastic event."

Highlights of The Motocaddy Masters will air on Sky Sports HD on Wednesday, May 15.
