Mytime Golf making golf affordable

March 28, 2013

Golfers across the UK have clubbed together with Mytime Golf to donate unused equipment and encourage a new generation of players into the game.

Mytime Golf, a division of social enterprise and charity Mytime Active, ran the 'Clubs 4 All' golf club amnesty from December last year and throughout January. The initiative collected nearly 1500 unwanted clubs and other golfing equipment.

The clubs will now be reconditioned to form sets, allowing young adults and others new or returning to the game to play at Mytime Golf's 19 courses across England without having to buy or rent clubs. Mytime Golf hopes the combination of zero hire charges and low green fees will help encourage new players into the game.

Mytime Active Sports and Events Manager Rob Drinkwater said: "Mytime Golf would like to say a big 'thank you' to our golfers across the country who have helped us take a step forward in our goal to create a more accessible game which will encourage a new generation of golfers."

Rob added: "An average golf set can cost hundreds of pounds, representing a big outlay for anyone thinking of trying out or taking up the sport. This amazing result from the amnesty will mean that at each of Mytime Golf's courses, new players will be able to use quality reconditioned sets without paying a hire charge. We will be encouraging new players, those wanting to return to the game, visitors or perhaps family members of golfers to come along and give the sport a try."

Mytime Golf is also set to roll out a new progressive teaching programme in the spring. 'Get Active in Golf' will have sections for juniors, young people aged 11 plus and adults. The fun, affordable sessions will be open to the general public and encourage golfers to build on their skills and knowledge of the game.
