High demand for the Old Course experience

February 26, 2013

The Old Course Experience, the golf tour division of Keith Prowse, has reported positive sales for its 2013 Old Course Experience golf tour programmes. The Old Course Experience is the only means by which golf aficionados can guarantee a tee-time during the summer months* at the renowned Old Course at St Andrews, the celebrated home of golf.

Tours promise a round on the revered Old Course, as well as 18-holes at one of St Andrews' other inimitable links courses, which includes the challenging New Course and the Jubilee Course - both featured in Golf Digest's respected Top 100 Courses list.

Visitors booking through the Old Course Experience can choose to stay at one of St Andrews' noted hotels: The Old Course Hotel, located alongside the fairway of the hallowed 17 th 'Road Hole', which has attracted guests including Michael Douglas, HRH The Duke of York and Tiger Woods; The Fairmont St Andrews, with its far reaching views over St Andrews Bay; and the stylish Macdonald Rusacks Hotel, acclaimed by locals and critics alike.

Guests booking with the Old Course Experience are assured the trip of a lifetime with a dedicated tee off, a full Scottish breakfast each morning, lunch at the exclusive Links Trust Clubhouse, and a seasonal three-course dinner at guests' hotel of choice.

The coastal town of St Andrews is an ideal coastal base for touring Scotland and the rest of the UK. For golf enthusiasts, there is no better place; for golf widows and widowers, it is the backdrop to the Royal romance between Kate and William and also immortalised in the Oscar-winning movie Chariots of Fire .

Through an exclusive contract with the St Andrews Links Trust, the Old Course Experience guarantees access to all of its St Andrews golf courses and eliminates the need for players to enter the daily ballot as is the norm to play the Old Course.  Testament to the success of the tour, all 'Father and Sons' Father's Day packages sold out in days of being made available for bookings.

Andrew Hodgkins, MD of Keith Prowse said, "Our partnership with the St Andrews Link Trust has demonstrated our status as one of golf's principal tour providers, and the rate at which our programmes have sold this year clearly indicates a strong projected uptake for 2013. We hope that 2014's Ryder Cup, which is being hosted by Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland, will highlight Scotland as an outstanding golfing destination which continues to attract visitors for many years to come."
