Tiger Woods wins another WGC and edges closer to No. 1 spot

March 11, 2013

14 time Major Champion and World Number 2 Tiger Woods won the WGC-Cadillac Championship for a seventh time and looked back to his best this week in registering his most significant career victory since winning the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in 2009. The 37 year old showed why he is regarded as the greatest front-runner of all time today, delivering a controlled 71 to finish at 19 under par - two shots ahead of Steve Stricker. He has moved within striking distance of the World Number One spot and victory at the Arnold Palmer Invitational next week will see a return to World Number One for Woods.

Scott Brown made a birdie at the last hole to snatch a late victory at the Puerto Rico Open in Rio Grande taking hin from 291st to 160th in the World Ranking.

Kevin Kisner fired a 4-under-par 68 to win the Chile Classic and earned his second career title on the Web.com Tour and is now ranked 309th in the World.

Anirban Lahiri successfully defended his title at the SAIL-SBI Open Presented by Incredible India, Ministry of Tourism on Saturday. The Indian rising star clinched his third Asian Tour title after defeating countryman Rashid Khan on the first play-off hole at US$300,000 Asian Tour event at the Delhi Golf Club and immediately set a new target in his burgeoning career and leaps 78 places to 155th in the Official World Golf Ranking.

On the Asian Development Tour, Danny Chia reinforced his reputation as Malaysia’s top golfer when he birdied the last hole to win the PGM Northport Glenmarie Masters by one shot over Nicholas Fung on Saturday and now ranks at 496th in the World.
