DA Points wins prizes and World No. 70 slot
April 1, 2013
DA Points won the PGA Tour's Shell Houston Open on Sunday, a final round of 66 seeing him claim the trophy by a single stroke. Henrik Stenson finished tied second with Billy Horschel a performance that took the Swede to World Number 42 and earned him a place in the Masters Tournament. Points jumps 125 spots to World Number 70.
Earlier in the day Marcel Siem had completed a superb wire-to-wire victory at the European Tour's Trophee Hassan II which put him in with a chance of Masters qualification but awaiting results from Houston. In the end Stenson's performance plus a final round of 68 by Russell Henley in Houston means Siem agonosingly missed out on a Masters debut as he climbs from 72nd to 51st in the Official World Golf Ranking.
This week's other winners were Choi Ho-sung at the Indonesia PGA Championship, a co-sanctioned event on the OneAsia and Japan Golf Tours, and Scott Hend at the Chiangmai Golf Classic on the Asian Tour.
