Graeme McDowell climbs to World No. 8 at Heritage

April 22, 2013

Graeme McDowell overcame Webb Simpson in a play-off to win the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links and climbs to World Number 8. The Northern Irishman was four shots off the lead at the start of the day but shot a brilliant two under par 69 to tie his fellow US Open Champion on nine under par, then took the title with a par as Simpson missed the green with his approach on their return to the 18th.

Raphaël Jacquelin drew on all of his experience to edge a prolonged, nine-hole record-equalling play-off in the Open de España and claim his first victory on The European Tour for just over two years. Jacquelin leaps into the top 100 from 146th to 94th on the Official World Golf Rankings. The final round at Parador de El Saler could not separate those in contention as Chile’s Felipe Aguilar, Germany’s Maximilian Kieffer and Jacquelin required extra holes.

Recent Masters runner-up Angel Cabrera won the PGA Tour Latinoamerica’s 82° Abierto OSDE del Centro for the eighth time in his career moving him into 58th on the Official World Golf Ranking.

Jake Roos won the Golden Pilsener Zimbabwe Open as he took the title by one stroke at Royal Harare Golf Club taking him to 159th on the World Ranking. With his 14-under-par total of 274, he edged ahead of overnight leaders Darren Fichardt and Italy’s Francesco Laporta who shared second, while Doug McGuigan and Lindani Ndwandwe shared fourth another stroke further back on 12-under-par. Jaco Ahlers was fifth on 11-under.

Yoshinobu Tsukada of Japan was victorious at the Token Homemate Cup claiming 16 points to rank 278th in the World.
