Snedeker reaches No. 6; Sterne into top 60

February 11, 2013

Brandt Snedeker moved from number six in the world to fourth after winning the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Snedeker finished runner-up to Tiger Woods in the Farmers Insurance Open as well as to Phil Mickelson at the Phoenix Open in the last couple of weeks but the American went one better this time with a brilliant seven under par 65 at the Pebble Beach course to finish on 19 under for the tournament, which was enough to seal victory by two strokes over compatriot Chris Kirk.

Richard Sterne puts his injury nightmare firmly behind him by cruising effortlessly to a first European Tour title in just over four years at the Joburg Open. Sterne moves into 55th place in the Official World Golf Ranking from 94th and qualifies for the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship for the first time since 2009. Previously ranked 29th in the world following successive victories on home soil in December 2008, Sterne subsequently slipped out of the top 1000 after missing much of the 2010 and 2011 campaigns due to a form of arthritis in his back.
