Kuchar and Poulter re-enter World Top 10

February 25, 2013

Matt Kuchar soars 15 places in the Official World Golf Ranking into 8th following his victory at the WGC-Accenture World Match Play, with England's Ian Poulter moving back into the top 10 with a fourth-place finish in Arizona. Kuchar captured his first world championship by a 2&1 margin. He lost the 10th and 11th before holing what appeared a crucial 12-foot birdie putt at the next after Mahan had fired in his tee shot to four feet. It was halved in two.

On the Sunshine Tour, Jaco van Zyl claims the Dimension Data Pro-Am title held at Fancourt Golf and Country Estate and now ranks at 104th in Official World Golf Ranking. His 17-under-par total of 272 held off the challenge of England’s Daniel Brooks with his final round two-under-par 70 around the Montagu course.

Kevin Foley won the Web.com Tour's Panama Claro Championship on Sunday, as Mathew Goggin missed out by a shot in the 2013 season opener leaping a 269 places to 284th on the Official World Ranking.

Thailand’s Chawalit Plaphol birdied the last two holes to win the Asian Tour's Zaykabar Myanmar Open presented by Alpine and jumps 164 places to rank at 274 on the World Ranking. Overnight leader Chawalit was tied with Mithun on 17-under heading into the last hole but the Thai set up a three-foot birdie putt with an exquisite approach shot at the par five 18th hole to win his fourth Asian Tour title at the Royal Mingalardon Golf and Country Club.

New South Welshman Matthew Giles has claimed the Australasian Tour's 2013 Victorian Open Championship played at Thirteenth Beach Golf Links and now ranks 605th in the World Ranking.

James Bowen of the United States ranked 734th savoured a memorable week when he closed with a one-under-par 71 to claim his maiden Asian Development Tour (ADT) breakthrough at the PGM Sime Darby Harvard Masters on Saturday.
