Pirate Island Adventure Golf attracts visitors by the hundreds to Hoebridge Golf Centre

February 19, 2013

Since opening its new Pirate Island Adventure Golf Course in December, 2012, Hoebridge Golf Centre has welcomed more than 3,000 swashbuckling golfers to tackle the obstacle-strewn 18-hole layout.

Receiving approximately 100 visitors per day, the public pay-and-play facility's newest attraction is swathed in pirate-themed furnishings, including an enormous shipwreck, cannons and treasure chests, for everyone from young buccaneers to old sea-dogs to negotiate with merely a putter and golf ball.

Hoebridge - part of BGL Golf, the UK's leading golf course owner and operator - also boasts three, more traditional golf courses: The Hoebridge - 18-holes designed by former Ryder Cup captain and golf legend John Jacobs, offering sensational views over the Surrey Downs; The Shey Copse - a 9-hole layout, which presents a delightful combination of par-4s and 3s that wind through woodland; and The Maybury - An 18-hole par-3 course with holes ranging from 72 to 182 yards, ideal for sharpening up your short game.

Mike O'Connell, Hoebridge Golf Centre Senior General Manager, said: "Adventure golf is fun, fast and affordable for everyone, plus it's not difficult to play so it's popular with people of all ages, whether they've got experience of playing golf or not."
