Pravets Golf & Spa kick off golf season in style

May 31, 2013

An exciting season of golf kicked off last weekend at the Braemar Golf managed Pravet’s Golf Club in Bulgaria, as it enters its third year of operation. The club has gone from strength to strength since it opened in the early summer of 2011.

The season commenced with the annual Braemar Golf Challenge tournament on the 11th May which coincided with Pravets first IAGTO tour operator familiarisation visit. The tour operators and journalists from the UK, Belgium, Germany, France and India joined a total field of 104 golfers for the now traditional season opener.

The event was a tremendous success and the IAGTO guests thoroughly enjoyed their stay in Bulgaria and at Pravets. Keith Haslam, Managing Director of Braemar Golf, who accompanied them, said "Pravets surprises and exceeds everyone's expectations who visit - it is a great golf resort that compares to anything that more mature golf destinations offer. From the feedback and discussions, we are confident that they will start to send international tourists, as numerous other tour operators are starting to do this season, now they have experienced what Pravets and Bulgarian golf have to offer".

This weekend, the resort and club plays host to the Aston Villa Former Players Association "Actavis & Football Legends Charity Tour", which is raising awareness and funds for the "Support Stan" campaign and the "Charity Fund for the Children of Bulgaria," specially selected by the Bulgarian Minister of Health.

June sees the inaugural "Tarleton Travel Golf Festival" and in September Pravets will hold the UniCredit PGA Professional Championship of Europe for a third time.

The club is managed by Braemar Golf’s Alan Rogut who has recently been joined by experienced PGA Professional Jonathan Shipstone who will head up Pravets Golf Academy this season.

Last week also saw Bulgaria staging its first European Tour event, with the Volvo World Match Play which took place at Thracian Cliffs on the Black Sea, which will be a great boost for Bulgaria as a golf destination.
