Stockton-on-Tees' Golf Week return

May 15, 2013

Stockton-on-Tees' Golf Week returns at the end of July for the fourth time - offering golfers of all abilities the chance to compete in one of the most complete golfing events of the year.

Organised by Stockton Council the four-day event from Tuesday, 30 July to Friday, 2 August takes in some of the Tees Valley's best courses and offers golfers the chance to play at exclusively discounted rates. There are daily prizes and an overall prize for the best aggregate score across the four-day tour competition.

Players can choose to enter the whole four days or individual days and have the choice to play individually or as a group to join in the action.

There are four stunning courses on offer across Stockton Borough as part of the four-day 'tour event' - Billingham, Eaglescliffe, Teesside and Wynyard.

Billingham combines both a fabulous golf course and wildlife haven and is set in fine and undulating parkland with views spanning Teesside and the Cleveland Hills. The tree lined fairways will ensure a challenging test for all levels of golfer.

The course in Eaglescliffe offers a picturesque parkland course set in a loop of the River Tees. The course is renowned for its fast sloping greens and signature 14 th hole, which winds around the river.

Teesside golf club offers a lovely balance levels parkland course with stream-lined fairways and ponds to catch the wayward shot. The 18 th hole has a lake guarding the green which makes for an exciting finish under the clubhouse balcony.

The jewel in the crown of Stockton's Golf Week is the opportunity to play on the prestigious Wynyard Park course, which hosted the Seve trophy in 2005. Set in 200 acres of mature parkland and featuring sweeping panoramic views, the course stretches for 7000 yards from the back tees. Greens and tees are set to elite USGA performance standards on this exciting course.

Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for Arts, Leisure and Culture, Councillor Ken Dixon, said: "Golf fans are in for a real treat as Stockton Golf Week returns for its fourth year. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy yourself and play on some of the Borough's finest courses.

"Stockton Golf week runs alongside two of the Borough's finest flagship events - Stockton Weekender music festival and Stockton International Riverside Festival. Why not extend your golfing experience and take the chance to combine a week of golf with live music, dance, street theatre and entertainment."

A variety of quality accommodation is also available to complete the golfing experience. From charming Bed and Breakfasts to a variety of nationally-recognised hotel chains, there is accommodation to meet everyone's needs and budgets.

Stockton Council's dedicated Tourist Information Team will be on hand to help and provide advice on accommodation and transport options and can also provide further information on the Golf Week event.

Daily entrance fees for Billingham, Eaglescliffe and Teesside clubs is £15 per person. Wynyard Golf Club costs £20 a day per person.
