Odds cut on Tiger Woods bets

March 28, 2013

Tiger Woods made a triumphant return to the top of golf this week by once again becoming the world's number 1 player and bookmaker Paddy Power are backing Eldrick to stay there. Woods is 4/11 to spend eight or more weeks at world number 1 whereas he is odds of 7/2 to spend between two and seven weeks at the top spot.

After winning the Arnold Palmer invitational this month Tiger is now stand out favourite at odds of 7/2 to win another green jacket at Augusta this April . The closest challenger for Woods is the man he usurped as world number 1, Rory McIlory. The Northern Irishman has suffered a dramatic loss in form following on his from well publicised equipment switch to Nike but is still second favourite for the Masters at 9/1.

Things looked pretty bleak for the serial record breaker after he dropped to a ranking of 58 in 2011. However, Tiger seems to have his golf game back on track and is tipped to add to his collection of Major titles with Paddy Power giving odds of 4/6 that he'll get between 15-18 in his career and odds of 13/8 that he'll get 19 or more.

The bookmaker is also speculating on whether Tiger's return to form will see the reappearance of the sponsorship deals that evaporated in 2010. Watch brand Tag Heuer are favourites to re-associate themselves with the golfer at odds of 2/1 with razor manufacturer Gillette also coming in at 2/1. Energy drink Gatorade and phone company AT&T both come in at 7/2 to resign Woods . If Woods can build on his win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational then he is sure to find himself in demand once again and Paddy Power have given odds of 7/4 that he'll have more than 12 sponsors at the end of the year.

A Paddy Power spokesman said; "Tiger appears to have banished his demons with a return to the number 1 spot at the top of world golf. The timing couldn't be better for Woods with Augusta just around the corner, a win there and it'll be Rory who!"
