October 16, 2014

The Club centre is part of BGL Golf, the UK's leading golf course owner and operator, which co-founded the event with the Disabled Golf Association (DGA) in 2013.

The competition has had six qualifying events, taking place throughout the year, at different BGL Golf facilities located across the UK, culminating in the grand final at the prestigious Burhill Golf Club, Surrey, on Friday 17 th October.

The top three golfers from each of the 6 preliminary stage events have qualified for the final, to be played on Burhill's New Course, a regular venue for the EuroPro Tour.

Finalists include former armed forces amputees; and golfers suffering from conditions such as Parkinson's disease, MS and autism.

Graeme Robertson, DGA national events co-ordinator, said: “Thanks to a combination of fantastic disabled-friendly facilities and knowledgeable staff, who are always willing to go the extra mile, BGL Golf is the ideal partner for this nationwide tournament.”

David Woodward, Burhill Golf Club general manager, said: “We look forward to welcoming new and returning disabled golfers who may have participated in the 2013 Race to Burhill.”

The aim of the Disabled Golf Association is to bring together all disabled golfers, irrespective of gender, age or ability, and help them enjoy golf on a level playing field.
