Cadillac Championship betting

March 5, 2014

Cadillac Championship LogoThe WGC Cadillac Championship gets under way this Thursday at Trump Doral and despite Rory McIlroy's dramatic loss in the Honda Classic last week, he is 15/2 favourite for outright winner with Paddy Power due to his quality form in the first three rounds of last week's tournament.

Adam Scott, who added a green jacket to his wardrobe in 2013 and finished T-3 in the championship last year, is second favourite with the bookmaker for outright winner at 12/1. The defending champion, Tiger Woods, quit mid-round in the Honda last week citing back spasms, and is priced at 14/1 should he be able to take part. Last year, it was McIlroy who walked off the same course half way through and it will be interesting to see if both players make it through the newly renovated course at Doral.

Having finished seventh here last year and posted three strong rounds last week, Keegan Bradley is priced at 28/1, while Graeme McDowell who always seems to play difficult courses well, and Justin Rose who is battling shoulder issues, are both priced at a longer 35/1.

Place Only - 5 places

Sergio Garcia has two top-10 and one top-25 finish on the PGA Tour this year and finished T-3 in the WGC Cadillac Championship last year. The Spaniard is 4/1 with Paddy Power to place in the first five. Phil Mickelson, who has not posted a single top-10 finish this year, is unsurprisingly priced at a longer 11/2 however punters must remember that he won in Doral in 2009 and finished T-3 here last year.

Leader after Round 1

McIlroy who started well last week and has had two runner-up finishes already this year is the Paddy Power favourite at 12/1 to be leading after Round 1. Having started well last month in Riviera at the Northern Trust Open, Charl Schwartzel is 33/1 to be leader after Round 1, with last week's winner Russell Henley, who soared into the top 50 in the week's world golf rankings, priced at 66/1.

Top English Player

Justin Rose had to withdraw from the Honda Classic last week due to injury but should he recover on time he is 13/8 with Paddy Power for top English player due to his strong history at Doral having won the Championship in 2012.

Following his recent swing change, Luke Donald is 15/8 to be top English player with Lee Westwood at 10/3 and Ian Poulter at 5/1, you can place your bets at william hill.
