Lumine brings glamour to the fairways

August 8, 2014

Lumine Golf & Beach Club, one of Europe's most attractive golf destinations, recently opened its doors to the Costa Daurada community with an exciting new initiative aimed at encouraging ladies to take up the game in a relaxed and informal environment.

On Saturday 26 th July, the cleverly entitled Golf & Glamour event attracted over 120 budding female golfers through the gates at the Troon-managed property, all looking to test their hands at the game and sample all aspects of the award-winning luxury Beach & Golf community.

Forming part of an extensive programme of innovative events in 2014, the team at Lumine is committed to reach out to the local population to promote the lifestyle and sporting benefits that the game of golf brings to all.

In order to address the wider lack of female participation within golf, the women focused event offered participants the chance to try the game along with friends in a relaxed and informal atmosphere. A golf tournament, played over the Greg Norman designed Lakes courses, host to the European Tour Qualifying School Stage 2, gave participants with a handicap an introduction to an competitive, yet fun golf experience.

Complementing the on-course event was the "Golf Baptism", for those who were completely new to the game. Over 60 ladies took advantage of the extensive Lumine Lakes practice facilities and free coaching under the expert guidance of the Lumine Professional team.

Delighted with the all-round success of the day and the positive feedback from all involved, Lumine Golf & Beach Club General Manger, Calle Carlsson, commented: "We have taken strategic steps in order to develop our reach with our local friends and wider domestic and international golf fraternity.

"Golf & Glamour is just one of many forward-thinking events that we are implementing at Lumine in order to create excitement and encourage people to have a go at the game in a stress-free environment. Fun and creative events like this are exactly what the game needs to bring in new people."

The day culminated with a Cocktail reception at the acclaimed Lumine Beach Club, the perfect location for après golf relaxation with its stunning Mediterranean cuisine. Guest were treated to a thrilling evening of games, cocktail tasting and a spectacular fashion show, from title sponsors and Lumine local business partners, Miuma and Zaida. Including a presentation of Stroili jewelry and gifts, the fashion show demonstrated the exclusive clothing partners' full ranges, with their unique designs, hand prints and original styling.

The women only event accompanies additional key initiatives organised by Lumine throughout 2014, including charity golf days for local and national beneficiaries as well as introductory events for Adults and Juniors - all in keeping with Troon Golf's mantra to make golf more accessible to the entire family. The Lumine professional team also continue to drive junior interaction through their Summer camps for experienced and novice golfers.
