The many homes of golf

August 26, 2014

This September sees the return of the illustrious Ryder cup to 'The Home of Golf' for the first time since 1973 with the European team aiming to retain the cup on home soil at the historic Gleneagles course in Perthshire, Scotland.

Scotland is the perfect venue to enjoy the sport whilst taking advantage of the spectacular landscapes and diverse activities on offer. Cottages & Castles still has a number of properties available that are ideally located for enjoying the action at Gleneagles. Whether it is a large corporate party or a small family holiday booking you are making, Cottages & Castles will help find the right home to let you relax in after a long day of excitement following the competitor's progress around the Gleneagles course.

Perthshire is one of the most beautiful regions of Scotland with an abundance of places to visit and things to do, as well as a number of high quality golf courses within driving distance no matter where you are. Cottages & Castles have a fantastic selection of properties to make sure you are ideally located and don't miss a swing:

Claypotts Cottage is a delightful property set in the heart of Glenisla. Surrounded by rolling farmland and heather clad hills and with the pretty River Isla at the bottom of the garden, it's the epitome of bonny Scotland. This comfortable and cosy home backs the perfect location for a group of friends, a family or couples. Guest can enjoy the peace or go hill walking, mountain biking or pony trekking if the golf proves too leisurely.

Catering as well as a babysitting service, beauty therapy, fishing tuition, stalking and shooting can all be arranged at extra charge.

Claypotts Cottage is available from £477 per week and sleeps a maximum of six.

Gamefield is simply exceptional both in terms of its location and the property itself. Designed by an award winning architect this is a brilliant house to entertain a large party during the Ryder Cup. The five sumptuous double bedrooms are all ensuite and a further two bedrooms are available in the separate Indie House by arrangement. The town of Crieff with all facilities is only a 5 minute drive away and you can reach the Gleneagles Golf course in less than 30 minutes by car.

Ryder Cup rent on application and negotiable. Gamefield sleeps ten.

Dallarich is situated in the best possible address for the Ryder Cup and is a wonderfully presented house featuring a Smallbone kitchen, gym and snooker room. It also has two light and spacious public rooms and a conservatory making it the ideal house to entertain or hire for a private corporate booking. The mature gardens stretch down directly to the Gleneagles golf course meaning that guests are literally a stone's throw from the action.

Ryder Cup rent on application and negotiable. Dallarich sleeps nine.

Sue Bourne, Manager of Cottages & Castles, said: "The Ryder Cup week is an extremely busy one for us, and the organisation of the event with pick up services, efficient park and rides and tight security around the course itself means that accommodation within short driving distance of Gleneagles isn't such a priority for our guests. This enables us offer a greater range of properties across the whole of Perthshire with many luxury homes still available for last minute bookings.

"We have also now started taking booking for next year's British Open tournament which will be held in St. Andrews so I would strongly recommend enquiring early if you know you will be attending and desire the best on offer".

Cottages & Castles have a number of stunning properties within close proximity of the world renowned St. Andrew golf course:

Craighead Cottage has a wonderful coastal location less than ten miles from St Andrews and with two golf courses on the doorstep. Fife really is the golfer's paradise with a further 45 golfing venues including the world famous Old Course at St Andrews. The cottage has been recently refurbished to provide stylish luxury accommodation with three extremely comfortable bedrooms and an additional studio apartment.

Craighead Cottage is available from £675 per week and sleeps ten.

6-8 Marketgate is a delightful example of the traditional architecture in the East Neuk of Fife. This is a quirky house full of character and a fantastic base from which to go exploring and enjoy the excitement of the British Open next summer.

6-8 Marketgate is available from £335 per week and sleeps four.
