Montgomerie Maxx Royal secures Position as home to the Turkish Airlines Open

January 31, 2014

The stunning Maxx Royal Belek Golf & Spa and its neighbouring Voyage Belek Golf & Spa underlined their position amongst Turkey's premium hotels when they welcomed 78 of the world's leading golfers for the inaugural hosting of the 2013 Turkish Airlines Open in November. Situated on the picturesque Belek coastline, both resorts and the Montgomerie Maxx Royal golf course received a wealth of praise from players and dignitaries alike throughout the week, with many taking to social media to compliment the first class hospitality. The 5-star plus resorts will continue as the host venue for the Turkish Airlines Open in 2014 and 2015.

The 2013 tournament welcomed some of the biggest names from the game of golf including World #1, Tiger Woods; U.S. Open Champion, Justin Rose; Ryder Cup hero, Ian Poulter; and eventual Race to Dubai winner, Henrik Stenson. All of these headline players finished inside the top-7 at the tournament; however none of them could keep pace with Frenchman, Victor Dubuisson, who fought off the world class competition in a dramatic climax to claim his maiden European Tour victory. The tournament took place across the pristinely prepared 7100 yard, par-72 Colin Montgomerie designed layout, which provided the perfect setting for the world's best players and offers an exciting challenge for golfers of all abilities.

Players and spectators from around the world were treated to luxury hospitality at the tournament's two host hotels; Maxx Royal Belek Golf & Spa and Voyage Belek Golf & Spa. Both resorts boast spectacular facilities and provide ultra-all inclusive packages offering guests unrestricted access to food & beverage outlets during their stays and the finest service and experience in modern day hospitality. Players were rich in their compliments for the exemplary service, and course designer Colin Montgomerie heard no end of positive feedback throughout the 2013 tournament. "Right from the very moment that the players arrived at this stunning location, they were all taken aback by the breath-taking surroundings and first-class facilities on offer," commented Montgomerie . "It is testament to the first-class job that all of the team do across the resort, and as the course designer, I am proud to be associated with such a world-class destination. I know we are all energised to make it even more of a success over the next two years."

Mehmet Ersoy, Chairman of Maxx Royal & Voyage Hotels' parent company ETS Group commented upon his delight at the announcement, "It was an honour to have hosted the first-ever European Tour event on Turkish soil here at Maxx Royal and the whole tournament completely exceeded our expectations. We received a wealth of comments from the players during the week, and we hope to welcome a number of them back very soon," continued Ersoy. "The tournament provides the perfect opportunity for us to showcase the world class facilities and unrivalled hospitality on offer at our resorts to a global audience and influential sport stars. Both Maxx Royal & Voyage Hotels have assumed the position of being amongst Turkey's most prominent hotel brands. We have aspirations to build on this success looking forward to an exciting two years ahead, hosting the Turkish Airlines Open, as well as opening Maxx Royal Kemer Resort & Spa in the summer of this year."
