Dustin Johnson favourite for Northern Trust Open

February 13, 2014

Dustin Johnson has started the season in the driving seat after a strong performance in Hawaii and 2nd place finish in Pebble Beach last week. Combine his current form with his history at the Riviera CC, a 3 rd in 2010 and a 4 th in 2012, and it's no surprise to see him as the 12/1 favourite for the Northern Trust Open with Paddy Power this week.

Jimmy Walker, who is looking for his 4 th win in 9 starts, is priced up as 18/1 for outright winner by the bookmaker, a result that would see him break a 15 year old record - since 1999 only David Duval, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson have won 3 of their first 8 in a PGA Tour season. The odds on the popular US golfer start to look even better when you take into account that he is top of the Money List, Fedex Cup and US Ryder Cup Standings and has openly stated that Riviera is his favourite golf course.

Place Only - 5 places

Paddy Power currently have Charl Schwartzel, who has nine victories on the European Tour, at 7/1 to finish in the top 5.

For Europeans wishing to stay loyal, there is a refreshing sprinkling of top players from the continent who secured invites to the tournament in order to prepare for the WGC Accenture World Matchplay next week.  Victor Dubuisson is priced at 12/1 and Joost Luiten are at 14/1 to place in the top 5, with Francesco Molinari is at 16/1 by the bookmaker.

Top 10 Finish

KJ Choi is priced at 55/1 to be the outright winner but could be a good bet for a top 10 finish priced up at 9/2 by Paddy Power, who have industry top price for Hunter Mahan at 9/4 for a top 10 finish.

Six place special - Paddy Power will be paying out on six places on all each-way bets at this week's Northern Trust Open
