Open Championship venue betting

June 20, 2014

After many leaked reports, it has finally been confirmed by the R&A that The Open Championship will return to Royal Portrush after a 68 year wait and host the 2019 Open Championship.

The decision has led to bookmaker Paddy Power  pricing up which golf course will be the next addition to the Open's rota, with Royal Porthcawl in Wales and Royal County Down in Northern Ireland leading the betting at 5/2 joint favourites.

Furthermore, with the decision to host the championship outside of mainland Britain for the first time since 1951, it has raised a small suggestion that the major could be held outside Britain and head to the Republic of Ireland.  Therefore very highly rated links courses of Royal Dublin at 150/1 and Portmarnock at 200/1 have been priced up by the bookie.

Next course added to the Open Championship rota:

5/2         Royal Porthcawl

5/2         Royal County Down

3/1         Royal Aberdeen

7/1         Royal St Davids

12/1       Aberdovey

14/1       Pennard
