Jordan Mumford secures debut professional win at Princes

March 25, 2014

The Players Tour's couldn't have got off to a more dramatic start to the season on the classic Sandwich links at Princes in Kent, with fog causing early disruption to proceedings but after a 2 hour delay, play was eventually off and running, with Max Brackley, last years winner hitting the first ball of the day.

Compared to last years 50 mph winds, a bit of fog, which eventually made way for bright blue skies, seemed pale in comparison and although it may have been a bit wet in places due to recent weather, the lack of wind definitely opened the door for some potential low scoring.

And it was Louis Boston from Cumberwell Park in Wiltshire who set the benchmark with a superb -4 on the front nine, with Liam Harper and Jordan Mumford close behind on an almost as impressive -3 and Charlie Cossins, Lee James and Nick Flynn two back on -2.

However, after Louis and Charlie both finished on -4 and it looking like there might be a play off on the cards, Jordan Mumford from Upminster in Essex had other plans by shooting an impeccable -5 (67) to win his first Professional event and the first event of The Players Tour season.

Jordan also collected a winner's cheque for £1,000 and a sponsor's bonus prize package worth £250 courtesy of G/FORE, GolfBand, Iguana Grips, Pro Performance and Soft Spikes .

Matt Watson was the lowest Single Figure Amateur on the day with a +4 (76) and took home home £100 worth of prizes in the process,
