Europe odds on for 2016 Ryder Cup

October 1, 2014

Having received a good spanking at Gleneagles last weekend, the Americans were quick to point the blame at their captain Tom Watson for their dismal defeat, with Mickelson leading the charge in a game of good old fashioned finger wagging and blaming.

As to who will take the reins for Uncle Sam's merry men come 2016, well Paul Azinger is the bookmakers favourite at 5/4 with his name doing the rounds after the American's demise. Fred Couples and David Toms are second and third favourites at 11/2 and 9/4 respectively.

European Captaincy looks to have slightly more certainty about it at this stage with Darren Clarke the 11/4 favourite.  Jimenez and Bjorn are 6/1 joint second favourites and the firm goes 16/1 bar those.

2016 sees us Europeans nipping over to the US of A, but with form as it stands we've got nothing to worry about as Europe are odds on shots to win the renewal outright at 4/5.

A Paddy Power spokesperson said "Europe are on for the treble come 2016 - the USA haven't a snowballs chance in hell of winning back the Ryder Cup in Hazeltine".
