Loft Up or Be Left Behind

May 1, 2014

With the first Major of the season now underway, TaylorMade Golf, the No.1 Driver in Golf*, is revolutionising the game with the introduction of 'Loft Up', a ground-breaking discovery allowing players to combine more loft, low spin and high launch to achieve unprecedented distance gain.

TaylorMade Golf's new market-leading SLDR Driver has shifted the club's centre of gravity (CG) from the traditional position at the back of the club head to a maximum forward position, a discovery that has led to the SLDR reducing spin and changing the rules of distance.

Put simply : High Launch + Low Spin + More Loft = More Distance

SLDR maximises distance for all golfers. Its low and forward CG makes SLDR TaylorMade's lowest spinning and longest driver ever. It unlocks this distance by enabling golfers to hit the ball higher and with less spin when they add loft, helping both low and high handicappers get closer to the ideal launch conditions of 17° or 1700rpm.

With the average loft at Augusta increasing year-on-year to a high at this year's tournament of almost 9.5 degrees, Tour players are continuing to discover the benefits of lofting up. TaylorMade Golf staff professionals, including Stewart Cink, Ken Duke, John Senden and Stephen Gallacher, are now playing over 12 degrees at Augusta. A summary of those lofting up at this year's Masters include:
