Rory McIlroy favourite for Tour Championship

September 11, 2014

Golfing's Elite turn their attention to the Tour Championship this week, and the final event of the Fed EX Cup.  Rory McIlroy heads the betting once again, as Paddy Power have him as their 7/2 favourite for the tournament.

Stalking the young Irishman in the betting front are the usual host of major winners and top golfers that have made it to the Tour Championship.  They include Adam Scott at 9/1 and this year's nearly men Rickie Fowler and Sergio Garcia at 12/1 and 14/1 respectively.

In terms of the FedEx Cup, the world number 1, is again the clear favourite.  Knowing a win or possibly a high place finish will secure him the FedEx Cup and all the riches that go with it , Rory is 15/8 to top the standings.

While the surprise packages of this year's FedEx Cup are definitely Chris Kirk and Billy Horschel, who currently occupy the number 1 and 2 spots in the standings.  A good shift this week by either could earn them the FedEx title, they are both 7/1 to get their hands on the cup and the 1st prize of $10m.

A Paddy Power spokesperson said: "The Open, the USPGA and now hot favourite for the FedEx, the kids done alright, but still has to deliver were we need him most, the Ryder Cup . "
