Golf's young bloods are raising the pressure

February 3, 2014

Unlike the majority of sports and athletic pursuits, golf has long been dominated by its older and more experienced players. With the exception of a handful of supremely talented individuals , long-standing champions usually require many years to ascend to the top of the rankings and maintain the amount of concentration required to win consistently. However, as the sport continues into the 21st century, the stakes are continuing to rise and many of the younger players are beginning to challenge the old guard. Here we take a look at four hotly tipped youngsters for the 2014 season.

  • Tommy Fleetwood The 22 year old Englishman already has four professional wins under his belt and is eager for more. Currently ranked 89th in the world, Fleetwood hopes that 2014 will bring more titles and subsequently, more chances to learn from seasoned professionals such as Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy and Sergio Garcia.

  • Matteo Manassero At just 20 years of age, Manassero is the youngest of our picks but has still managed to achieve a huge amount in his short time as a professional. Having also claimed four professional titles, the Italian is hoping to be included in the Ryder Cup squad this year.

  • Victor Dubuisson Ranked 20th in the world, the 23 year old Frenchman currently has two professional wins to brag about, including the 2013 Turkish Airlines Open . Dubuisson will be hoping he can maintain this form over the coming season.

  • Peter Uihlein The only American on the list, which is in itself a rarity, Ulhein was something of a star of the US Walker Cup in the past. Currently ranked at number 63 in the world, the 24 year old hopes to consolidate his form and enter the top 50 whilst working towards a spot on the Masters Tour.

So all that remains to be seen is which of these rising stars can continue to build upon their electric form and make the grade over the next few years. Any one of these talents could be the next golfing pin-up to find its way into golf fans' homes. Take a look at this great selection of prints that includes a broad range of golfing posters from posterlounge.co.uk and take your pick of these rising superstars - and expect these names to be increasingly ubiquitous over the coming years.
