Abu Dhabi Matchplay launched

Amatuer golfers are in for a real treat in 2016 with the just launched Abu Dhabi Matchplay Championship.



The season long matchplay event offers the opportunity for men and woman, individuals, pairs and mixed golfers to compete and win through to the magnificent finals held in the UAE, on the sun drenched fairways of 3 of Abu Dhabi's finest golf courses.

With return flights provided by Etihad Airlines, The Rotana Hotel on Yas Island will host the finalists offering a perfect base to play the 3 grand finals rounds at Saadiyat Beach Club (home of the Gary Player invitational) Yas Links (home of the Abu Dhabi invitational) and Abu Dhabi National (home of the Abu Dhabi Golf Championships).

Knockout matches commence in July with the finals taking place in April at the magnificent Marriott Hotels Forest of Arden golf resort, where the winners will book their seat on the plane to Grand Finals.

The competition

- 2 formats individual and pairs 
- Open to men and woman
- Regionalised knockout rounds to reduce travelling distances
- Regions (North & South)
- 2 legged first round to offer a greater experience
- Matchplay format National finals (not Stableford)
- Maximum of 6 rounds to qualify to the National Final
- Bespoke golf shirts for national finalists

The Grand Finals

- Return flights from the UK to Abu Dhabi with Etihad Airlines
- 5 Nights HB at the exclusive Rotana Yas Island Hotel
- 3 grand final competition rounds at Saadiyat Beach, Yas Links & Abu Dhabi National
