Triple winning weekend for Titleist

January 26, 2016

Leading a brilliant weekend for Titleist, golf ball loyalist Rickie Fowler utilised the superior performance of Pro V1 to take home his sixth career victory across worldwide professional tours at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. On the PGA Tour Titleist Brand Ambassador Jason Dufner trusted a full bag of Titleist equipment to claim the CareerBuilder Challenge title with further success on the Champions Tour for Duffy Waldorf, rounding out an impressive three-win weekend for the #1 Ball in Golf.

Fowler, who has recently switched to Pro V1 having used Pro V1x previously, finished one shot clear of the chasing pack. Having chipped in on the 17 th hole to open up a two shot lead, Fowler held his nerve to par the last and claim the win. The victory was Fowler's second European Tour title in two seasons, having captured the Scottish Open last year and also sees Fowler move to number four in the Official World Golf Rankings, the highest standing of his career.

As well as being the choice of the eventual champion, the top ten players who finished among the top five and ties at Abu Dhabi Golf Club included nine Titleist golf ball loyalists, with all six players who tied for fifth place relying on Titleist golf balls including Titleist Brand Ambassadors Jordan Spieth (Pro V1x) and Byeong Hun An (Pro V1x). The winner also used a Scotty Cameron Newport 2 for his success.

There was further success for Titleist on the PGA Tour, where Jason Dufner (Pro V1) was victorious at the CareerBuilder Challenge, with a par on the second hole of an all-Titleist playoff with David Lingmerth (Pro V1x) to take home the title.

Relying on Titleist equipment from tee-to-green at PGA West's TPC Stadium, Dufner closed with a two-under par 70 to catch Lingmerth at 25-under par, for a 263 total. The win was his fourth career PGA Tour title, topping a leaderboard which also included fellow Brand Ambassadors Andrew Loupe (Pro V1x) and Kevin Na (Pro V1x) who were among three players who tied for third place at 21-under par. The 38-year old became the fourth Brand Ambassador to be victorious this season, joining Peter Malnati, Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth in the winner's circle.

Throughout the field, Titleist was the overwhelming ball of choice, with 106 of the 156 competing trusting the superior performance of Titleist for their success, more than seven times the nearest competitor.

Elsewhere on the Champions Tour, Titleist golf ball loyalist Duffy Waldorf (Pro V1) sank a 25-foot birdie putt on the 18 th hole at Hualalai GC to win the Mitsubishi Electric Championship. Waldorf's dramatic putt saw him beat Tom Lehman (Pro V1x) by one stroke at the season-opening event. The victory was Waldorf's second victory in his last three starts and his 18-under 198 total saw him become only the fourth player in Champions Tour history to play all 54 holes without a bogey.

With golf ball loyalists Rickie Fowler and Jason Dufner claiming clutch victories on the European and PGA Tour respectively to kick off their seasons, and a further victory on the Champions Tour, Titleist equipment continues to be trusted by the world's best players for their success across the globe.
