Larry Mize joins US Dunhill Cup side

Larry Mize has been confirmed as the third player in America’s Alfred Dunhill Cup side.

Mize will be joining John Daly and Tom Lehman in the side but the 42-year-old has not won a tournament since the 1993 Johnnie Walker World Championship in Jamaica and is now ranked only 120th in the world.

In 1987 he won the US Masters in dramatic fashion after chipping in to beat Greg Norman at the second extra hole, but his inclusion that just six of the world’s top twenty - Ernie Els for South Africa, Colin Montgomerie for Scotland, Nick Price for Zimbabwe, Michael Campbell for New Zealand, Miguel Angel Jimenez for holders Spain and Lehman- will take part in the competition.

Both Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke are skipping the tournament and the organisers have been unable to attract any of the five leading Americans in the world rankings - Tiger Woods, David Duval, Phil Mickelson, Davis Love and Hal Sutton.
