Sergio Garcia and Jean
Van de Veldehave now officially withdrawn from the MCI Classic next month.
"I spoke with both of their
agents and obviously both players were under great pressure to play and represent
their countries,'' said MCI Classic tournament director Steve Wilmot.
The Ballesteros tournament
is a Ryder Cup-style event that pits the top golfers from the United Kingdom
against the best players from the rest of Europe.
Garcia, of Spain, and Van
de Velde, of France, will play on the European team, which Ballesteros will captain.
Colin Montgomerie will lead the British team.
