Darren Clarke still chasing $1m bonus

Darren Clarke's bid for a million dollar pay-day was derailed for the second week running at the Lancome Trophy in Paris.

Clarke stands to collect the seven-figure sum from sponsors Dimension Data if he wins four tournaments this season and the Ulsterman is already halfway there.

But after being beaten into third place in Switzerland last week by an inspired Eduardo Romero, the 32-year-old was denied by an equally superb display by Retief Goosen at St-Nom-La-Breteche.

"Considering how badly I've hit the ball it's a fantastic effort to finish second," Clarke admitted.

"You would not have got your hand back quick enough if you had offered me it at the start of the week. I didn't have the luck on the greens but invariably when you don't play well you don't get the run of the ball."

"There is all that money to play for in the last two events and it's all going down to the last weekend," he added.

"I'm certainly looking forward to the challenge and hopefully I will find a game before then."
