Laura Davies, refreshed following a two-week break at home in England, aims to stop Karrie Webb's amazing streak in the final major of the women's season, the £800,000 du Maurier Classic at Royal Ottawa.
"I didn't play golf once during the last two weeks," said Davies, who has won twice in America this year. "I just took it easy and spent most of the time shopping at Harrods.
"But it was just what I needed because this week starts another important run. I played great at my last event, the U.S. Womens' Open, (she finished ninth) and if I can just get the putter to work then I know I can win this week."
Laura Davies will be looking to go one better than in 1999. Allsport.
But Webb is odds-on favourite as she defends the title "The first priority is to get into contention for the weekend and then take it from there and hope that I'm holding up the trophy on Sunday," said the 25-year-old. "At the moment, I'm living a dream."
