David Duval withdraws from NEC Invitational

David Duval withdrew from the $5 million NEC Invitational today due to continued back problems.

Duval, ranked third in the world, withdrew after six holes at The International on August 3, then withdrew from the PGA Championship last week.

The NEC Invitational is being played on Firestone Country Club's South Course, where Duval won the 1998 NEC World Series of Golf.

Duval willnotbereplaced in the field, which consists of players from the 2000 Presidents Cup teams, the1999 United States RyderCup team, andthe 12 leading players on the European Tour's 2000 Order of Merit through August 14.
