Faldo wants more thanresignation from James

Nick Faldo is refusing to let up in his assault on Mark James, despite seeing his adversary step down as assistant to European Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance.

Torrance has called for a truce in the war of words between Faldo and James.

James stood down from his role at the request of Europe's Ryder Cup Committee, which met at Wentworth Tuesday. But Faldo has hinted that he will not be happy until James is also stripped of his position as chairman of the European Tour's tournament committee.

"The Ryder Cup committee and the European Tour have failed to address the personal issue, that is the personal attacks on me," Faldo told the Daily Express. "If Mark came to me to explain that, that would be something.

"Where is the line? The Tour has not drawn the line. The issue will go on with some players," he added. "I am sure James' position as chairman of the tournament committee will be questioned. It's a classic case of the captain or manager of a team who can't write a book if he wishes to stay active."

Faldo was incensed when James revealed that he had thrown a good luck message from the former Open and Masters winner into the waste bin prior to last year's Ryder Cup clash in Brookline, for which James was European captain.

"Mark is entitled to his opinion of me, as I am of him," said Faldo. "I know what happened with the letter, just don't put it in the book."
