David Feherty tipped to replace Ken Venturi

David Feherty, the former Ryder Cup player from Northern Ireland, and Mark O'Meara, winner of the Masters and the Open two years ago, have emerged as leading candidates to replace Ken Venturi when he retires at the end of this season as CBSís primary golf analyst.

Other contenders are thought to be Fehertyís CBS colleague Gary McCord, former Ryder Cup player Peter Jacobsen, veteran English commentator Ben Wright and Bobby Clampett.

Outside possibilities include another Briton, former European No 1 Peter Oosterhuis, and the station's anchor man Jim Nantz.
