Another major sporting event
has been nabbed by Victoria, this time it's the Heineken Classic golf tournament
shifting from Perth to Melbourne in 2002.
Victorian Premier Steve Bracks said today the tournament, which has been staged
in Perth for the past eight years, will be played at Royal Melbourne for a minimum
of four years.
He said the tournament,
co-sanctioned by the European and Austraoasian tours, will have an estimated
economic impact of $30 million for Victoria over the four years.
