The European Tour has lost Standard Life as one of its sponsors, just a month after Ernie Els won its tournament at Loch Lomond.
Els was victorious at the British Open warm-up but Gordon Arthur, the company’s director of corporate affairs, said: "We agreed to be sponsors for a three-year period and it has been a hugely beneficial venture.
"We have achieved the original marketing objectives and we now wish to look at new ways of promoting the Standard Life name in an ever-changing and dynamic marketplace."
After talks with the Tour executive director Ken Schofield, Loch Lomond Gold Club confirmed that the expected to keep the same date on the tour calendar – the week before the Open at Lytham – for 2001.
