Defending champion Long to miss Greg Norman event

New Zealander Michael Long will be unable to defend his Greg Norman Classic title next month after injuring his neck in a surfing accident.

The 31-year-old suffered the injury last week and doctors said he had narrowly escaped permanent damage.

He said: "I was just trying to get over a wave and flipped over. My head hit the bottom and I thought 'What have I done here?'"
