LPGA Tour Championship seeking new venue

The Arch Championship,formerly calledthePageNetChampionship, will be played at a different site this year. The tournament had been played at the Desert Inn Resortin Las Vegas.

An announcement is expected soon regarding the new venue forthe $1millionchampionship,whichnormallydecides the top awards in women's golf. Sites in Las Vegas and Florida are being considered.

The Desert Inn Resort,whichhasbeenthehostsince1996, recentlyannounceditsclosingand members of the hotel staff left earlier than expected totakeotherpositionsinthehospitality industry.

"We at the LPGA regret leaving a venue that has been such a great host for the culmination of our season at the Arch Championship," LPGA Commissioner Ty Votaw said. "We originally felt we could return to the Desert Inn in 2000, despite the facility's many changes that were made by the ownership, but after discussions with both IMG andtheDesert Inn, we felt this would not be the case."

The Arch Championship will be played November 16-19,withSouth Korea's Se Ri Pak defending her title.
