Two Americans and a Japanese
qualified for next month’s US Masters today.
Japan's Shigeki Maruyama and Americans Paul Azinger and Kirk Triplett earned
their invitations by being among the world's top 50 ranked players following
last weekend's tournaments. Everyone else in the top 50 was already exempt. The
Masters field now stands at 102 exempt players, although seven of them, including
some aged former champions, are not expected to compete. The winner of the Players
Championship in three weeks will also qualify for the year's first major championship.
