Parnevik hopes to overcome his hip injury Sweden's Jesper Parnevik could be forced to pull out of The Open at St Andrews because of a hip injury.

The 34-year-old first felt the problem after winning the Byron Nelson Classic in the second week of May.

The Ryder Cup star then felt the pain worsen during the US Open at Pebble Beach and now the Swede may be forced to withdraw from The Open, which starts on 20 July.

"I think the Italian's massages are having an effect and I hope to be able to take part in the Loch Lomond tournament in Scotland ,just a week before The Open," added Parnevik.

"I hope to be fully fit for The Open as I love to play at St Andrews."
